Jr. Camp Counselor
Junior Counselors support the adult staff team and camper groups while earning volunteer hours. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on camp leadership experience, work in a nature-based inclusive setting, and add meaningful volunteer hours. All lodging, food, field trips, and supplies are provided.

Key Responsibilities

Assist adult counselors with daily group supervision of campers during activities, meals, cabin/campsite transitions, and free time.

Help facilitate or support program activities (nature hikes, arts & crafts, games, campfire) under adult counselor supervision.

Participate fully in pre-camp virtual orientation/training for Junior Counselors.

Help maintain a positive, inclusive camp culture; encourage camper participation, support inclusion and friendship among campers.

Assist with set-up and clean-up of activity areas, materials, cabins/common areas.

Report concerns about safety, behavior, or camper wellbeing to adult staff promptly.

Be a role-model for campers: respectful, responsible, engaging, and supportive.
Qualifications & Requirements

Desire to work with children, outdoors, and thrive as part of a team.

Good communication skills, ability to follow instruction, responsible and punctual.

Comfortable being active outdoors and flexible with schedule.

Willingness to abide by camp policies, safety rules, and behavioral standards.

Two references are required.

This is a volunteer-hour position (non-paid) but counts toward volunteer service and leadership development, ideal for the Bright Future Scholarship applicants. Up to 82 volunteer hours can be earned for one week of camp.

All staff must commit to the camp’s mission of unplugging from screens and connecting with nature, and to fostering an inclusive environment for campers of diverse needs.
